We are living in one of the most exciting times in human history. This is what technology is delivering to mankind. All thanks to God Almighty, the creator for the gift of vision, ideas and the ability to think.
Thousands of years ago, the Bicycle was a mystery to many and then it was the motorcycle.
Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot, helped paved the way for the Benzes Ford and the Toyotas of today. Ever since then cars of diverse qualities, specs and brands are constantly being churned out to buyers whose choices, wants and needs like,we were taught in elementary economics ,keeps evolving and therefore are insatiable.
It should be noted that not too long after the invention of cars ,man was already gunning for flying objects. They idea of a car-like object, that could lift itself off the ground and move in the atmosphere, for many was novel. While some found it interesting ,others thought it was impossible, yet some few were already working on the project in the different parts and corners of the world.
Though a status that has been fraught with counter claims, with the achievement of the Wright’s in 1903 ,the airspace has never been the same as many brands has also been churning out plethora of technological angels and IFOs of different sizes: from toys to monsters navigating and marauding the aerosphere and empyrean at different velocities.
From Datwyler to Chernov to Chalard, Blue Yonder to AVRO to, Daewoo to DORNIER Bristol to Bombardier, to Airbus to Boeing. All trying to catch the attention of customers and flight lovers with #Boeing sitting in the space of popularity in the commercial flight transportation category, followed closely by #Airbus.
Just like it is with gadgets and most technological advancement, micro and compactness has also crept into this category. This has been merged with the idea of flying cars which men began fiddling with since the invention of the first car.
Flying cars have since been a thing of research and improvement. With many players like #Terrafugia etc working tirelessly on the idea.
The #Daniel Wiegand co-led team however appear to have made the most tangible progress, having made a public test flight of it’s sleek looking 2 seater and 5 seater Lilium jet in 2017 and 2019 respectively.
The introduction of #VTOL however has since ingested another kinetic energy into this industry that is though in its paturative phase, but very promising .
One of the beautiful and interesting things about this industry and its present phase is the cutting edge #technology that is being injected as the players keep flexing their technological muscles.
When the Lilium team announced their product in some years ago highlighting VTOL as one of its qualities ,technology enthusiasts were wowed and all applauded their plans. Little did we know that some already big names were going to join the race(one way or the other) and were even already in the lab and kitchen cooking up some dishes whose aroma we were soon gonna be perceiving- A Foretaste of the meal to come.
Just a few days ago,in the month of August 2020, SkyDrive, the auto industry giant Toyota backed company, tested it’s own VTOL flying car SD 03. The test haven taken place in the Japanese city of Toyota, saw the SD 03 lifting itself 6 feet above the ground and hovering around for about 5mins.
The Fukuzawa led team are also in the bid to make travel by flying taxi a reality, come 2023.
